NC violates seat sharing agreement, alleges PAGD ally | DDC Elections | | Saahil Suhail
Early Times Report
Srinagar, Nov 23: Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM)-an ally of Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD)-on Monday accused National Conference of violating District Development Council seat sharing agreement by fielding candidates against alliance candidates in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. “During meetings conveyed to discuss seat sharing at Nawa-e-Sub office of National Conference on 13th and 14th of this month, the committee which has been mandated to take final call on this issue, had allotted Litter DDC Constituency to Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement but now National Conference has filed a candidate against our candidate who filed nomination papers a few days ago,” Javed Ahmad Khan, state secretary JKPM told Early Times over phone. Khan said that they were surprised to see the final seat sharing document in which the committee had allotted the Litter DDC seat to the National Conference. “Yesterday they released this seat sharing document and we found that the committee had allotted the seat to the National Conference despite the fact that our candidate had already submitted nomination papers on behalf of PAGD,” he said. He said that his party raised the issue with coordinators of Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) and demanded that the candidate fielded by the National Conference be asked to withdraw. “We have raised the issue with Muzaffer Ahmad Shah, Hassnain Masoodi and Nasir Aslam Wani, however they haven’t responded yet,” he said. Khan said that Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement has also conveyed a meeting of office bearers on Tuesday to discuss the issue. He said that so far his party has bagged 15 District Development Council seats through PAGD. Multiple attempts to contact, PAGD Coordinator Retd Justice Hassnain Masoodi failed as he didn’t attend repeated calls from this reporter. Worth to mention, the National Conference has also fielded proxy candidates against PAGD candidates at multiple places in South Kashmir to damage future poll prospects of its arch rival Peoples Democratic Party. |
