BJP not fighting DDC elections on local issues: Aketa alleges | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 4: Intensifying her campaign, independent candidate from Miran Sahib DDC seat Aketa Devi on alleged that BJP is not fighting DDC elections on local issues facing people of Jammu region. Addressing a public gathering in Miran Sahib today she said that DDC polls should be fought on local issues and elect people who can resolve basic problems that concern them on a daily basis, adding that "bigger issues", should be left for parliamentary elections. "Political issues are for bigger platforms like the assembly or the parliament. What roles do the DDCs or for that matter Panches and Sarpanches have in framing laws? This is a small platform to address the developmental issues of the people at the local level," she said. She said people should support a local candidate who could address day-to-day matters. We have many issues that need attention, but I want the issues of our locality to be resolved," she claimed. This election is also important as through this we can keep those parties and people away who ignored our basic issues to enjoy power corridors. She further said that political parties are hoodwinking public opinion by raking up residuary and emotive issues to divert the attention from their failures on all fronts. They have nothing to offer to the people and therefore they have been shying away from focussing on the core issues", she said while appealing people to ensure her victory for overall development in the area. |
