Siblings striving to train youth for belt forces recruitment in Jammu’s border village
12/5/2020 1:28:56 PM

Jammu, Dec 5 : Two siblings-- one retired from the Armed Forces and the other serving in the education department-- are toiling long hours to train a brigade of youth aspiring to join the belt forces in bordering villages here on the city outskirts.
Ravi Kumar, 40, an ex-serviceman and his brother, Varun Kumar, a teacher by profession, from village Satuli in Ranbir Singh Pura, are selflessly contributing in nation building by fulfilling the dreams of many youth of border areas by training and preparing them for recruitment rallies.
Upon returning to his hometown after retirement from the Army, Ravi Kumar was pained to see youth of his village indulging in anti-social activities and becoming drug addicts but after consulting his brother, the duo pledged to shape up the future of youth in the border villages.
The journey started in the year 2017. The hard-work and commitment of their family started bearing fruits and around 600 youths from nearby villages of bordering R S Pura successfully joined the belt forces and Indian Army.

“When we met hundreds of youth, found that most of them desired to join the Army or the belt forces but many had either failed to appear in recruitment rallies or could not clear even though they were passionate about serving the nation,” said Ravi Kumar.
He said that on seeing them dejected, the first thing that came to his mind was to train and prepare them for the recruitment rallies so that they not only secure their future but also serve the nation in strengthening it militarily.
“More than 600 youth from different border villages have joined the belt forces and Army after being trained by us,” said the ex-soldier, adding that many of them were also trapped by agents and looted of money in the name of recruitment leaving them shattered.

He said that they are also paying from own pocket to buy books or other kits required for training to those who cannot afford with an aim to make them achieve them their goal.
However, the ex-serviceman is training young turks in physical strength while the educationist is preparing them for written examinations.
The duo, braving chills, are sweating it to brighten the future of many ‘unemployed’ youth vis-à-vis making the nation stronger by giving them young blood to fight on borders.
Ravi Kumar trains youth of chest widening exercises, 100 metres, 200-metres athletics run in allotted time while Varun Kumar teaches Mathematics, English, Reasoning and General Knowledge to further sharpen their brains.

They claimed that till date, they had trained nearly 5000 youth out of which 600 have successfully selected in Army, BSF, CAPF and Police.
The youth from border villages including Badial Brahmana, Chakroi, Chauhala, Suchetgarh, Plora, Dablairh, Kulliyan, Kadiyal, Badian, Saturni, Kapurpur, Maukhe, Kushalpur, Rangpur, Rangpur Sadre and Agra Chakk are getting trained by the sibling for many recruitment rallies.
