Director Handicrafts & Handlooms reviews world bank sponsored clusters | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 24: The Director Handicrafts & Handlooms, Mehmood Ahmad Shah took a review meeting of the functioning of four craft clusters undertaken under the World Bank sponsored Jhelum Tawi Flood Recovery. He later conducted his maiden visit of the two Handicraft clusters viz Crewel-Chain Stitch & Paper Mache functioning at Noorbagh & Zadibal, respectively after taking over the charge as Director Handicrafts and Handlooms earlier on Monday. On his visit to the clusters, Director Handicrafts and Handlooms Kashmir said that Kashmir is the land of unbeatable artisan work and the crafts of Kashmir need no introduction globally. He stressed the officers associated with the project to austerely expose the artisans to the markets round the globe. The Director was informed that both the clusters have registered a Producer Company with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India so as to ensure the ownership to each artisan associated with the craft in the clusters besides ensuring long lasting sustenance of the project. During the course of his visit he interacted with different artisans linked with the clusters, took their feedback and suggestions. The Director Handicrafts and Handlooms expressed his satisfaction with the overall functioning of the two clusters. He was accompanied by the officers of the department and the project. |
