Orientation workshop held on geo-tagging of Wakf properties in Ramban | | | Early Times Report
RAMBAN, Feb 1: The Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam presided over an orientation–cum-training programme for Revenue officers and officials held here today make them aware about the process of geo-tagging of Wakf/Auqaf properties and digitization of records upkeep of assets. Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Dhreindra Sharma, Tehsildars, Patwaries and other concerned were attended the programme. The programme was organized by Auqaf Jammu in collaboration with District Administration at conference Hall. Speaking on the occasion, DC urged the Revenue officers to speed up geo-tagging and updation of Revenue records of Wakf/Auqaf properties in order to have a complete database about the assets. The DC said that it’s necessary to prepare a foolproof database of Wakf and Auqaf properties to prevent illegal encroachments. Administrator Aquaf Jammu, Mudassir Iqbal, said that geo-tagging will help the authorities to devise a plan for the safety and maintenance of Waqf properties. He said the Waqf at the same time has been directed to digitize its records in order to ensure transparency in its functioning. “The data regarding the number of structures and land owned by the Waqf will be put into digital form. It will give the government an idea about the performance of the Wakf Board,” the resource persons said. During the interactive session the resource persons cleared doubts and queries raised by the participants regarding challenges which may arise on the ground during the process of geo-tagging. Later, an on-spot demonstration was also conducted by the resource persons. |
