A day after ED’s summon Mehbooba feels ‘isolated’ | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 6: A day after summoning by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in money laundering case, former chief minister and president of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) discussed the matter with her party leaders to devise future strategy. Although Mehbooba preferred to maintain a guarded silence today, her party colleagues suggested her not to take any haste decision at this crucial time. Reliable sources said that Mehbooba Mufti wanted to face action of the central agencies in any political case so as to retrieve her lost ground by raking up sentiments of the emotional people of Kashmir Valley. “Mehbooba’s advisors have asked her to take a tough stand on political issues to play with the emotions of people but ED summon on money laundering case has frustrated all designs”, sources said. Insiders in the PDP said that Mehbooba Mufti is feeling completely isolated as almost all mass base political leaders have deserted the party due to a coterie. “Instead of standing with Mehbooba Mufti at this crucial time, some members of the coterie have also ditched her”, sources said while pointing towards the decision of the former chief minister’s ex-political advisor Peerzada Mansoor to quit the party at this crucial juncture. Wishing anonymity, a senior leader who recently quitted PDP told The Early Times Mehbooba Mufti is passing through a crucial period of her political career due to the ‘corrupt communal coterie’ which had reduced PDP to a ‘B’ team of Hurriyat Conference. As reported earlier ED on Friday had summoned Mehbooba Mufti in a money laundering case on March 15 in Delhi. Summoning Mehbooba Mufti is directly related to raids on the residences of her close aide Anjum Fazli, who was nominated as MLA by Mehbooba Mufti in the year 2015 by ignoring many other deserving women leaders of the party. |
