Lt Gen Pandy, other ranks pay tributes to Hav Kumar | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Mar 28: Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen D P Pandey and all ranks paid rich tributes to Havildar Pinku Kumar who made supreme sacrifice on March 27 in south Kashmir district where two Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) were also killed in the encounter. A defence ministry spokesman Lt Col Emron Musavi said Sunday afternoon that Army today, paid tribute to HavKumar in a solemn ceremony at Badami Bagh Cantonment . Lt Gen Pandey and all ranks paid homage to the gallant soldier on behalf of the proud Nation. He said late Hav Kumar was part of an Operation WANGAM on March 27 2021. At around 1900 hrs, a cordon and search operation was launched in the village and at around 2015 hrs, the militants fired indiscriminately on the search party. Late Hav Kumar showed highest level of courage and valour by returning effective fire, in which he sustained a gunshot wound in head and was grievously injured. However, his bleeding was controlled with combat first aid and he was immediately evacuated to 92 Base Hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries. The Braveheart, Late Hav Kumar, was 38 years old and had joined the Army in 2001. He belonged to Village Luhari of Barout Tehsil, Bagpat District in Uttar Pradesh and is survived by his wife, two daughters and one son. The mortal remains of Havildar Pinku Kumar were taken for last rites to his native place, where he would be laid to rest with full military honours. He said in this hour of grief, the Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved family and remains committed to their dignity and wellbeing.
