SRINAGAR, Mar 28: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir witnessed a quantum jump in fresh Corona Virus cases and also in virus related deaths. While 309 new cases of virus were reported in past 24 hours four people died due to the virus during the same period of time. Srinagar district that has been bearing brunt of COVID-19 reported 123 fresh cases including 35 travelers followed by Jammu district 49 cases, Baramulla district 46 cases, Kupwara district 27 cases, Budgam district 22 cases, Pulwama district 12 cases, Anantnag district seven cases, Kathua and Ramban districts five cases each, Ganderbal and Kulgam districts three cases each Bandipora, Udhampur and Poonch districts two cases each and Shopian district one case. While Jammu division reported three fresh deaths a death was reported from Kashmir division. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 309 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 63 from Jammu division and 246 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 29,993. Also four COVID-19 deaths have been reported, three from Jammu division and one from Kashmir division. Moreover, 117 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 21 from Jammu division and 96 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 29,993 positive cases, 2,001 are active positive, 1, 26,003 have recovered and 1,989 have died; 735 in Jammu division and 1,254 in Kashmir division. Out of 59, 50,506 test results available, 58, 20,513 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 14, 81,909 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 27,209 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 2,001 in isolation and 1, 11,594in home surveillance. Besides, 13, 39,116 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 28,654 positive cases, 873 active positive, 27,311 recovered, 470 deaths; Baramulla has 8,704 positive cases, 254 active positive, 8,272 recovered, 178 deaths; Budgam has 8,145 positive cases, 147 active positive, 7,878 recovered, 120 deaths; Pulwama has 5,963 positive cases, 61 active positive, 5,810 recovered, 92 deaths and Kupwara has 5,791 positive cases, 59 active positive, 5,635 recovered, 97 deaths. “Anantnag has 5,143 positive cases, 19 active positive, 5,030 recovered, 94 deaths; Bandipora has 4,749 positive cases, 21 active positive, 4,666 recovered, 62 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,703 positive cases, 12 active positive, 4,644 recovered, 47deaths; Kulgam has 2,773 positive cases, 17 active positive, 2,702 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,644 positive cases, 25 active positive, 2,579 recovered, 40 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,789 positive cases, 402 active positive, 25,006 recovered, 381 deaths; Udhampur has 4,342 positive cases, 15 active positive, 4,270 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,890 positive cases, 11 active positive, 3,824 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,454 positive cases, 13 active positive, 3,377 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,299 positive cases, 24 active positive, 3,222 recovered, 53 deaths. “Samba has 2,856 positive cases, 13 active positive, 2,802 recovered, 41 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,740 positive cases, one active positive, 2,717 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,542 positive cases, 16 active positive, 2,501 recovered, 25 deaths; Ramban has 2,152 positive cases, 16 active positive, 2,115 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,660 positive cases, two active positive, 1,642 recovered, 16 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 129993 positive cases 13,172 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
