Natrang stages play ‘Jangiram Ki Haveli’ | | | EARly Times Report
Jammu, Mar 28: On the second day of Natrang Theatre Festival, Natrang staged a Hindi play ‘Jangiram Ki Haveli’ written by the famous revolutionary playwright Gurusharan Singh. This play once was very popular in the entire North India and has been staged for over thousand times to sensitize masses about the core issues of prevalent political corruption. The play was designed and directed by Neeraj Kant. Plays that he scripted and directed addressed political and social issues from a revolutionary perspective and "Jangiram Ki Haveli" was one such presentation which was performed today here at Natrang. Enhancing the true flavour of a festival, today’s play gave added altogether a distinctive color to the festival. The play revolves around the story of four residents of a downtrodden Haveli of "Jangiram" who died leaving the residents helpless. The "Haveli" is symbolic to the country and the residents represent the citizens of the country. The residents being overly dependent on "Jangiram" did not know how to survive without him. The residents troubled by this situation sought the help of the narrator and it helped them to awaken them and work for themselves. It prompted them to hold the elections to choose their new representative. The new representative was the same as the old one and did nothing to improve the conditions. The place they live in is in so poor condition that they are still on the same boat as they were before. The play culminates when the narrator succeeds in making the people understand that any how they have to live for themselves under no pressures and democracy is their birth right and they must understand the value of it. The revolutionary nature of the writer Gurusharan Singh is depicted in the play in an energetic way. Natrang actors who acted in the play included Meenakshi Bhagat, Shivam Bhat, Sagar Gupta, Sudanshu Isher, Bhrigu Sharma, Garu Ram, Rahul Gupta, Kananpreet Kaur, Gagan Sudan, Prohitdeep Singh, Bhawani Singh and Kushal Bhat Lights were designed and executed Neeraj Kant whereas music was scored by Sushant Singh Charak Sharma. The show was coordinated by Mohd. Yaseen. Tomorrow on the third day of Natrang Theatre Festival, Pratap Sehgal’s hindi play ‘Koi Aur Rasta’ will be staged at 5 pm at Natrang Studio Theatre under the direction of Neeraj Kant. |
