Former SHO accused of cheating Rs 4 lakh of stolen money
Gives free passage to thief, complainant demands justice

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Mar 28: A former Station House Officer (SHO) in Jammu district has been accused of cheating Rs 4 lakh of stolen money and allegedly gave free passage to the thief from the case but amid all this the complainant has been running from pillar to post to get justice.
The issue came into light when complainant Mohan Lal Sodhi resident of Janipur held a press conference recently after feeling dejected from the lacklustre attitude of the concerned police official and revealed the entire matter.
He said that some thieves had stolen Rs 4 lakh from his residence which was given to him by a customer. “I managed to see one of the thieves while crossing over the boundary wall. Later he was found from RS Pura and taken to police station, where he confessed that he along with his brother had stolen money and handed it over to their mother,” Mohan Lal said.
He further said that a video of confession of the main criminal was also made but shockingly instead of arresting the accused, the SHO left him by saying that the criminal has very high contacts and due to which he had to let him free.
Complainant said that the SHO assured that the stolen money would be returned to him but he didn’t do that and he continued to harass him. “I paid several visits to the Police Station and every time was given empty assurance of giving my money back but that day didn’t come. Meanwhile, the SHO was transferred over another issue held in his jurisdiction and my matter could not reach to its conclusion,” he said.
He further said that he lodged complaints with other agencies in this matter but nothing was done to give him justice.
SDPO Bakshi Nagar, when contacted, said that the criminal has been arrested and an inquiry is going on.
But locals alleged that the role of former SHO should also be investigated in this case and legal action should also be taken against him.
