Jammu Runners Group bring laurels to J&K

Jammu, Apr : Making a mark at higher levels, Jammu Runners Group again brought laurels to the UT of JK by winning medals in the recently concluded various running events held at Sri Anandpur Sahib, (Punjab), Bir Biling (Himachal Pradesh) and 24 hours Stadium run at Panchkula (Haryana).
The Event at Sri Anadnpur Sahib was organized by Super Sikh Foundation to promote humanitarian values and concept of ‘Sewa’. The event started and finished at PanjPyare Park, Opposite Anandpur Sahib, Polo Arena, near Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib Gurudwara.
The Marathon Route ran along the majestic Satluj River nested among the Shivalik Hills. About 300 runners following all safety protocols issued by the local administration and drawn from various part of the country participated in the event of Marathon, Half Marathon, 10 Kms and 5 Kms.
The event was flagged off by Legendary Centenarian 110 Yrs old Fauja Singh in an impressive and well attended function, while 107 year Bibi Maan Kour, 100 meters International gold medalist for so many years in Masters Category was the guest of honour along with Blade runner of India Major DP Singh (Retd)
The Jammu Runners Group participants included Ahibhshake Gupta, who stood 1st in Marathon (42.194 Kms) in his category, clocked a timing of 03:42:00. He also ran 105.6 Kms in 12 hours run organized by Tuffman and he secured 2nd position overall. Safat-Ul-Bashir, stood 3rd in his category (21.095Kms), clocked a timing of 01:38:00, while Shamsher Singh, Pranav Mahajan and Pankaj Sharma clocked timings of 01:44:00, 01:48:00 and 01:52:00 respectively.
Surinder Kanhaiya, ran with National Flag in his hand clocked a timing of 47:37 minutes for his 10 kms, while Shrikanth Sharma completed his maiden 10Kms. Master Ketav Mahajan ran 5 kms timing of 43:21 minutes.
The Grand Indian Trails organized marathon at the picturesque location of Bir Biling situated at a height of 1650 Mts. Dr Dilawar Khan participated in the Half Marathon gaining an elevation of 650 mts and secured 1st position in his age category with timing of 02:22:27.
