Fulfill peoples’ expectation, Munish asks authorities | Shergarh residents resent poor civic services | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 22: The residents of Shergarh area of Gandhi Nagar constituency expressed resentment over poor civic services in their area and appealed to the authorities to take appropriate action for strengthening the derailed services. The residents while sharing their nightmare they are going through now a days, said that yesterday India recorded highest spike in Corona cases, as over 3.15 lakhs people through the country tested positive for deadly COVID-19, but here in Jammu our civic body is doing nothing to keep the area clean by using disinfectants. “However, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on yesterday had assured the nation, all possible requirements to fight Corona will be fulfilled, but it is duty of the state/UT administrations to use available resources to keep cities and towns clean”, said local residents, adding that it seems that authorities are busy in photo session. “Nowadays, every failure is being covered up by the authorities by using PR, without doing nothing, huge press releases are being shared with the media houses by the authorities patting their backs. The use of PR to build its image by the authorities contradicts the ground realities”, they said. They further said that Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha on his part left no stone unturned to serve the people of J&K, but the bureaucracy is widening the gap between the LG and the public. “LG is not accessible for everyone, we are fully dependent on the media to convey our sufferings with the authorities, especially the Raj Bhawan, and we are very grateful to the media, which is continuously highlighting our burning issues”, said the residents. “We are craving for the basic amenities and it is the duty of the government to provide us all the facilities. We are living a primitive life since the basic amenities are being denied to us”, they said, adding that administration if wants to defeat the Corona, it has to launch a full-fledged drive in the area areas of Jammu city and periphery, other dead will wait for their turn in a queue outside the crematoriums. Supporting the genuine demands of the residents of Shergarh, Editor-in-Chief Early Times, Munish Gupta said that the administration should take immediate cognizance of issues raised by residents to avoid the disaster, in the form of COVID-19. “It is very serious problem that despite timely preventive measures adopted by the governments, number of COVID-19 positive cases is increasing like wild fire”, he added. |
