People debarred from constructing homes on their own land with own money: Panthers Party
4/22/2021 11:45:35 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 22: Ridiculing the slogan “Achhe Din” given by the BJP govt over the last seven years, JKNPP expressed grave concern over the pathetic plight of the people who have been deprived the right to reside with dignity and honour.
“Local residents of J&K are being deprived of constructing homes on their own land with own money, several people have been rendered homeless, rich are becoming richer and poor are becoming poorer under BJP rule. With no one to pay heed to the miseries of public at the helm of the affairs, they are only left to the mercy of God”, regretted Panther leaders.
Gagan Pratap Singh State Secretary-JKNPP and Rajesh Padgotra Senior leader of the Party were addressing a presser in Jammu in view of the several deputations having apprised them regarding the authoritarian and callous attitude adopted by the administration towards their grievances.
Speaking to the media, Gagan Pratap Singh rebuked the J&K govt for not allowing the local residents to build their own houses on the land owned by them. This is bizarre. What kind of regime is running in J&K, asked Gagan.
He said that people had lost faith in the administration with the perception that Urban & Housing department and its statutory bodies like JMC and JDA were working like land mafia and harassing public at large by not approving their building permission cases for vested interests.
He divulged that several delegation of aggrieved locals had brought to his notice that their applications seeking construction of residential buildings were out rightly rejected by JDA on the vague justification that the land use of the proposed sites having been “Vegetation”(Agriculture) or “ Commercial” as per the Google coordinates/ JMP-2032.
He said that JMC and JDA have become hub of corruption with no one to take cognizance.
Referring to the ongoing selective anti-encroachment drive by the govt, Rajesh Padgotra said that the administration on the other hand has grossly failed to evict the big fish having usurped State and Forest lands worth millions and trillions before laying their hands upon the poor and the landless.
He strongly condemned the eviction of poor and landless, bulldozing of Kacha houses besides the ‘rehris’ and ‘pharis’ being operated by poor people to earn their two square meals a day.
While several top politicians including the Ex-Ministers, MLAs, MPs of the Saffron party having encroached huge tracts of govt land remained untouched, the poor and the wretched were harassed and persecuted. Many ex-BJP Ministers and MLAs had been reported to have created huge assets, taken loan from J&K Bank amounting to several crores and got it declared NPA besides having defied norms and procedures and violated Defence Acts in constructing un-authorized structures and palatial bungalows, maintained Padgotra.
