4/22/2021 11:46:19 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Apr 22: Taking one more step for the welfare of traders and the society as a whole, Traders Federation Ware House-Nehru Market Jammu and Kanak Mandi Traders Association on Thursday jointly decided to observe voluntary weekend lockdown from April 24 for one month.
The decision in this regard was taken in an emergency meeting in the federation office Warehouse held under the presidentship of Deepak Gupta.
The meeting was attended by Munish Mahajan, Sr. Vice President, Abhimanyu Gupta, Jr. Vice President, Sham Lal Langer, General Secretary, Vishal Gupta, Secretary, Amit Gupta, Cashier, Anoop Mittal, President Kanak Mandi Traders Association, and other senior members.
It was unanimously decided that to help the administration in controlling this deadly pandemic, all shops in Ware House-Nehru Market and adjoining markets will observe weekend lockdown from coming Saturday for next four weeks. All shops will remain closed on every Saturday-Sunday during this period.
While in Kanak Mandi, only shops dealing with essential commodities will remain closed on Saturday-Sunday while other shops will open as per government guidelines.
Addressing the meeting, Deepak Gupta said that a day after the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha appealed to Market Associations to voluntarily stagger schedules to reduce crowd, Traders Federation Ware House-Nehru Market Jammu curtailed its market’s working hours from 9 am to 6 pm. He said although Ware House was allowed to open for whole week because this market deals with essential supply but being a responsible Federation we have decided to observe self weekend lockdown from coming Saturday for four weeks. Gupta said that it was also decided in the meeting that no customer will be allowed in the Warehouse-Nehru Market without a face mask and every shopkeeper and their employees will strictly follow the guidelines issued by the administration on covid-19. Earlier in the morning, a free mask and soap distribution camp was organized by the federation with the help of Indian Red Cross Society wherein Deepak Gupta and Vinod Malhotra, Secretary Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region along with other office bearers of federation distributed masks and soaps amongst the employees and labour of Mandi.
