SRINAGAR, May 10: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir witnessed a slight dip in fresh COVID-19 cases with 3,614 infection cases being reported in the past 24 hours; 5,190 cases were reported on Sunday (May 9). Following 56 fresh deaths the death toll reached 2,782 in the union territory. Jammu district reported 31 fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by Srinagar district nine deaths, Pulwama district four deaths, Udhampur, Rajouri, Kathua and Anantnag districts two deaths each and a death each in Samba, Reasi, Budgam & Kupwara districts. So far 1,572 people have died due to the virus in Kashmir valley while in Jammu division the number of such deaths is 1,210. Srinagar district reported 701 new cases followed by Jammu district 658 cases, Budgam district 343 cases, Kulgam district 254 cases, Kupwara district 187 cases, Rajouri district 170 cases, Baramulla district 163 cases, Samba district 158 cases, Kathua district 146 cases, Udhampur district 137 cases, Pulwama district 135 cases, Anantnag district 134 cases, Ganderbal district 76 cases, Reasi district 75 cases, Bandipora district 65 cases, Shopian district 60 cases, Poonch district 57 cases, Ramban district 50 cases, Doda district 34 cases and Kishtwar district 11 cases. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 3,614 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 1,496 from Jammu division and 2,118 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 2, 20,546. Also 56 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 39 from Jammu division and 17 from Kashmir division. Moreover, 2,855 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 1,070 from Jammu division and 1,785 from Kashmir division. Out of 2, 20,546 positive cases, 49,951 are active positive, 1, 67,813 have recovered and 2,782 have died; 1210 in Jammu division and 1,572 in Kashmir division. Out of 76, 89,823 test results available, 74, 69,277 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 19, 18,562 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 87,062 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 49,951 in isolation and 1, 33,234 in home surveillance. Besides, 16, 45,533 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 53,835 positive cases, 11,148 active positive, 42,065 recovered, 622 deaths; Baramulla has 16,567 positive cases, 3,888 active positive, 12,467 recovered, 212 deaths; Budgam has 14,262positive cases, 3,650 active positive, 10,468 recovered, 144 deaths; Anantnag has 10,328 positive cases, 3,771 active positive, 6,436 recovered, 121 deaths; Pulwama has 9,137 positive cases, 2,248 active positive, 6,767 recovered, 122 deaths. “Kupwara has 8,536 positive cases, 1,713 active positive, 6,713recovered, 110 deaths; Kulgam has 6,666 positive cases, 3018 active positive, 3,576 recovered, 72 deaths, Ganderbal has 6,355 positive cases, 976 active positive, 5,323 recovered, 56 deaths; Bandipora has 6,306 positive cases, 763 active positive, 5,474 recovered, 69 death and Shopian has 4,026 positive cases, 1,127 active positive, 2,855 recovered, 44 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 40,595 positive cases, 7,630 active positive, 32,279 recovered, 686 deaths; Udhampur has 7,679 positive cases, 1,410 active positive, 6,192 recovered, 77 deaths; Rajouri has 6,786 positive cases, 2,636 active positive, 4,051 recovered, 99 deaths; Kathua has 6,169 positive cases, 1,393 active positive, 4,699 recovered, 77 deaths; Samba has 4,890 positive cases, 1,704 active positive, 3,117 recovered, 69 deaths. “Doda has 4,166 positive cases, 472 active positive, 3,623 recovered, 71 deaths; Reasi has 4,081 positive cases, 634 active positive, 3,426 recovered, 21 deaths; Poonch has 3,691 positive cases, 857 active positive, 2,785 recovered, 49 deaths; Ramban has 3,273 positive cases, 683 active positive, 2,555 recovered, 35 deaths and Kishtwar has 3,198 positive cases, 230 active Positive, 2,942 recovered, 26 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 2, 20,546 positive cases, 20,510 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meter from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
