5/24/2021 10:27:28 PM

Early Times Report

JAMMU, May 24: Sham Lal Sharma, former Minister and State Vice President BJP along with Mayor Chander Mohan, DDC Chairman Jammu, Bharat Bushan today visited MCH Gandhi Nagar and took stock of medicare facilities being provided to the people. Dr Arun Sharma MS MCH Gandhi Nagar was also present.
The BJP team observed that the major administrative flaw hampering the working of this ultra modern health facility. They said that MCH and old Gandhi Nagar hospital are though situated in same premises, but their control is in different hands.
“MCH falls under the ambit of Medical Education Department while old hospital comes under realms of Health Department leading to utter confusion and hiccups due to departmental issues and procedural delays”, they said, adding that staff crunch is also a big issue which MCH is confronting since its inception. They also said that senior doctors seldom visit this health facility making it virtually a non-clinical institution. “The specialists visit this hospital on call only making it almost redundant as far as facilities given to patients”, they said and asked for an early resolution.
Another issue which came to fore during the visit, that despite old hospital having a CT Scan facility the doctors in MCH have to refer their patients for CT scans, blood banks to CD Hospital Bakshi Nagar and GMC. They also observed that there is dire need to establish well equipped lab for the welfare of people visiting there. They also objected over non delegation of powers to MS MCH.
They also interacted with the attendants of patients and they seem to be satisfied by the services of the staff and hospital. They further said that the mortality rate is the lowest in MCH Gandhi Nagar. Later, the BJP leaders visited the under construction DRDO Covid hospital to review the progress of work.
The BJP leaders expressed gratitude to PM Narinder Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Lt Governor Manoj Sinha for establishing the DRDO Covid Hospital in the very short period amidst Covid pandemic.
