SRINAGAR, May 24: The COVID-19 recovery rate in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir continues to improve and it reached 81.95 percent as 3,999 virus affected patients recovered today. At the same time 2,237 new cases came to the fore with 45 deaths taking place as well.
Jammu district reported 441 cases followed by Srinagar district 309 cases, Budgam district 221 cases, Kupwara district 204 cases, Kulgam district 169 cases, Anantnag district 106 cases, Baramulla district 103 cases, Ganderbal district 91 cases, Pulwama and Bandipora districts 77 cases each, Rajouri district 66 cases, Udhampur district 55 cases, Kathua district 49 cases, Reasi district 48 cases, Kishtwar and Ramban districts 47 cases each, Doda district 43 cases, Samba district 31 cases, Poonch district 27 cases and Shopian district 26 cases.
Jammu district reported 19 deaths followed by Srinagar district five deaths, Pulwama district four deaths, Rajouri, Kishtwar and Baramulla districts three deaths each, Kupwara district two deaths and Doda, Samba Poonch, Ramban & Ganderbal districts one death each. So far 1,877 people have died in Kashmir valley while in Jammu division the number of such deaths is 1,732.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 2,237 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 854 from Jammu division and 1,383 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 2, 72,858. Also 45 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 29 from Jammu division and 16 from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 3,999 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 1,490 from Jammu Division and 2,509 from Kashmir Division. Out of 2, 72,858 positive cases, 45,630 are active positive, 2, 23,619 have recovered and 3,609 have died; 1,732 in Jammu division and 1,877 in Kashmir division.
Out of 82, 70,069 test results available, 79, 97,211 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 20, 35,593 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 74,787 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 45,630 in isolation and 1, 41,002 in home surveillance. Besides, 17, 70,565 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 62,468 positive cases, 5,683 active positive, 56,048 recovered, 737 deaths; Baramulla has 19,955 positive cases, 2,823 active positive, 16,889 recovered, 243 deaths; Budgam has 18,895 positive cases, 4,464 active positive, 14,267 recovered, 164 deaths; Anantnag has 13,280 positive cases, 3,797 active positive, 9,334 recovered, 149 deaths; Pulwama has 12,008 positive cases, 2,232 active positive, 9,620 recovered, 156 deaths.
“Kupwara has 10,887 positive cases, 1,905 active positive, 8,847 recovered, 135 deaths; Kulgam has 9,159 positive cases, 2,516 active positive, 6,553 recovered, 90 deaths; Bandipora has 7,957 positive cases, 1,217 active positive, 6,657 recovered, 83 deaths; Ganderbal has 7,876 positive cases, 1,168 active positive, 6,642 recovered, 66 deaths and Shopian has 4,995 positive cases, 1,087 active positive, 3,854 recovered, 54 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 48,128 positive cases, 7,053 active positive, 40,099 recovered, 976 deaths; Udhampur has 10,118 positive cases, 1,372 active positive, 8,634 recovered, 112 deaths; Rajouri has 9,059 positive cases, 2,991 active positive, 5,909 recovered, 159 deaths; Kathua has 8,335 positive cases, 1,059 active positive, 7,160 recovered, 116 deaths; Samba has 6,441 positive cases, 2,377 active positive, 3,964 recovered, 100 deaths.
“Doda has 5,193 positive cases, 1,082 active positive, 4,029 recovered, 82 deaths; Reasi has 4,959 positive cases, 607 active positive, 4,318 recovered, 34 deaths; Poonch has 4,776 positive cases, 1,000 active positive, 3,700 recovered, 76 deaths; Ramban has 4,556 positive cases, 883 active positive, 3,626 recovered, 47 deaths and Kishtwar has 3,813 positive cases, 314 active positive, 3,469 recovered, 30 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 2, 72,858 positive cases, 21,298 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
