Court rejects bail in fake currency note scam | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 24: Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Kishore Kumar today rejected the bail application of Vipin Pandita who was involved in fake currency note scam. According to the police report filed with Police Post Talab Tillo Jammu by the complainant inter-alia alleging that Sachin Kumar and Rohit Sharma came to him for purchasing cigarettes and gave him Rs 500. On getting the said currency note of Rs 500, it was found not to be genuine. On the basis of this complaint a report was registered by Police Post Talab Tillo Jammu and a docket was sent to Police Station Nowabad for registration of FI . An FIR No. 63/2021 for the commission of offences under section 489-B IPC was registered and the investigation of the case was commenced. Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Kishore Kumar after hearing both the sides observed that the custody of the accused person is required by the police agency, to unearth the larger conspiracy behind the printing and circulation of counterfeit agency in the Market. Police agency is also directed to investigate the role of the accused thoroughly whether the counterfeit currency printed by the accused persons has been used for militancy or some other subversive activities. The U.T. of Jammu and Kashmir has been fighting militancy since long. As the militancy activities in the State of Jammu and Kashmir is at the peak and the use of fake currency in the criminal activities particularly of militancy cannot be ruled out. Sufficient time is to be provided to the police agency to conclude the investigation on this point also. The role of the accused is such that they cannot be set free at this stage. As the repetition of these offences is possible by the accused persons. Consequently, in the entirety of facts and circumstances and considering the nature, gravity and the impact on the economy of the country and the use of such fake currency in militancy activities and other facts and circumstances, this court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner at this stage. So far as the ailment of the petitioner is concerned in this regard the Police agency concerned shall provide all medical facilities to the petitioner under rules. The application of the petitioner for bail is, therefore, dismissed. JNF
