JAMMU, July 6: On the occasion of 120th birth anniversary of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukerjee, founder of Bhartiya Jan Sangh, and to pay rich tribute to the legend, Mayor JMC Chander Mohan Gupta along with Surinder Sharma Councillor of Ward No 38 today installed a plate on the name of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookerjee opposite Police Station Janipur naming the road from Amphalla Chowk to Bantalab as Dr. Shyama Parshad Mookerjee Marg. Speaking on the occasion, Mayor told that a resolution moved by Surinder Sharma Councilor of the Ward No 38 regarding this has already been unanimously passed by the general house of JMC and going a step forward name of the road has been done. Beside this, a chabeel in the memory of Dr. Shyama Prasad was also organized by the concerned councillor at Paloura Talab near Jaggi Darbar where sweetened water, cold drinks and other eatables were distributed among the needy, poor persons as well as passers by the Mayor and his team.
Mayor also threw light on the life of this great personality who lived his whole life with simplicity and fight against injustice done by the successive governments to the people of India especially for J&K and rose his voice for "Ek Nishan Ek Vidhan, Ek Pardhan".
Ajay Manhas, Roshan Lal, Rattan Lal, Sanjay Gupta, Robin Kumar, Rajinder Ranna and other prominent inhabitants of Janipur and its adjoining localities were also remained present there.
