Workshop on psychosocial support for Covid-19 pandemic conditions held

JAMMU, July 6: Government Degree College, Chenani under the auspices of its Psychological Counselling Cell and NSS Unit "Prayatna", in collaboration with the Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India, (Swachhta Action Plan) organized a workshop on Psychosocial Support for Covid-19 Pandemic Conditions. Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India strives to promote resilient rural India through Higher Education interventions. MGNCRE designs, develops and promotes curriculum inputs for higher education programmes offered by Universities and higher education Institutions in India.
The purpose of the program was to engage the students of the College in the online community services during this pandemic situation. The resource person of the workshop, Ankita Kumari, consultant MGNCRE, shared a number of Covid Helper Skills with students of the college to instill interest and concern among the students about the dynamics of the present pandemic; to develop community based learning in order to identify and respond to community needs.
She dealt with multiple perspectives of problem solving to foster students' intellectual capabilities and service instinct. The students enthusiastically participated and interacted in the workshop and took a pledge to help the needy persons in this pandemic condition by providing the necessary help.
Dr. Pragya Khanna, Principal of the College presented the vote of thanks to the resource person for sharing such valuable inputs. She also shared her experiences with the participants related to the present situation and motivated the students to help others during the adverse conditions.
