Chairman JMC and PH&S committee bats for regularizing illegal bores, water connections | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 6: Narinder Singh Jamwal, Chairman Public Health and Sanitation (PH&S) Committee of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) on Tuesday directed to regularize the illegal water connections and private bores. He said this while chairing a meeting of PHE Sub Divisions Muthi and Sitle (Rural Division). During the meeting, N S Jamwal said the concerned officials to start drives in their jurisdictions to act against illegal water connections by issuing notices and also identify the unauthorized bores, which have been dug by the private persons without taking the prior permission from the PHE department. He asked the staff present on the occasion to ensure that no unauthorized connection should be allowed in their jurisdiction. Those present in the meeting include AEE, JE, XEn Rural and Urban Joint Commissioner Works. Jamwal asked the staff to convene regular meetings with the residents of local wards to make sure that regularizing illegl connections doesn’t become an issue. He said that after the end of rainy season camps will be held to review the status of PHE department and the meetings shall be held to share information about the projects and stations of PHE department. He directed the concerned staff to address the issue of leakage in water pipes in all the sections. The Chairman Public Health and Sanitation categorically said that the local stations should not be stopped in summer seasons in wake of water needs of the people. He asked the staff to send a letter to XEn (E) for the availability of lights on the tube wells. Raising a valid point he said that staff strength of Jal Shakti department and PDD should be increased considerably to provide hassle-free services to people.
