Home for the Aged & Infirm celebrates birth anniversary of its founder | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 9: The management and inmates of Home for the Aged and Infirm (popularly known as Vridh Ashram) celebrated 121st birth anniversary of its founder RN Prabhakar by performing Hawan-Poojan at Ambphalla, Jammu. The president ID Soni, former State Commissioner J&K Bharat Scouts and Guides paid rich tributes to Prabhakar, who retired as Head Master, devoted his life in service of the poor aged neglected and infirm members of the society. He described him as a great visionary who could foresee necessity of such a Home for aged and infirm persons in the ever changing society. He was a well known social worker who made a significant contribution for care and upliftment of such needy, hapless and destitute persons. This Institution established on 8th June 1964 with mere one room on a piece of land obtained on lease from Ved Mandir Committee was registered as a Society on 20th February 1965, now has emerged as a premier centre in Jammu & Kashmir for dedicated services to the old and infirm persons of the society to ameliorate/mitigate their hardships and sufferings encountered at advanced age. The Vice President HS Manhas, Joint Secretary Er. Vijay Gupta, Managing Committee Members Nirmala Zutshi, RC Vaid, Vinod Kumar and Dinesh Gupta participated in the limited celebrations on the occasion while complying with the mandated instructions and restrictions imposed because of prevailing COVID-19 pandemic. Er Vijay Bhagotra, Honorary Secretary conducted the proceedings and expressed his profound gratitude to the participants for the personal interest taken in the day-to-day activities of this Home for overall welfare of its inmates.
