BMS demands revisions in minimum wages to Rs 12000 pm | | | Early Times Report KATHUA, July 9: BMS district body meeting held under the chairmanship of Ishfaq Ahmed Chouhan state President BMS at Kathua in the meeting it has been alleged that minimum wages were last revised in 2017 and it has been passed about 4 years and wages fixed at that time has lost its relevance and BMS demand that it should be revised to minimum @12000/-. It was alleged by the members that the functioning of ESI Dispensary is not satisfactory as no one come before 10.30 and poor workers are compelled to wait for getting treatment as staff posted in ESI dispensaries are sitting on the same station and doing private services with the blessings of higher officials for the last so many years. Same is the position of local office where workers have to wait for months together for getting sickness leave benefits and other reimbursement of medicine claim. The numbers of factories engaging workers through labour supplier contractors poorly on cash payment of daily wages and depriving the social security covers to workers just to save contribution on account of PF and ESI and labour department is not serious in this matter. BMS also objected on lowering the interest rates on PF contributions illegally without the approval of PF Board of Trustees as well as from Govt and due to this huge financial loss is being given to PF subscribers further due to the negligence of PF organisation as the subscribers those have applied for advance or full and final are told that payment has been stopped as PF accounts are being transferred to central EPFO but it has been more than two years and still accounts has been not transferred and no any accountability has been fixed for poor performance on the part of officials. BMS appealed LG and Advisor Labour and Employment to take action in the matter seriously. |
