NGOs, Sarpanchs extend support to Panthers demand for increasing Jammu's Assembly seats

JAMMU, July 9: Several delegations of political parties, NGOs and Panchayat Sarpanches who met the Delimitation Commission yesterday in Jammu, called on Prof Bhim Singh congratulating him for his straight stand on distribution of Assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir and for fair distribution of Assembly seats both in Kashmir and Jammu provinces. Several NGOs and Sarpanchs invited Prof Bhim Singh to visit the entire area of J&K and meet the people to make them understand that 50:50 distribution of seats is the only way out for peaceful and just decision.
The panchayat delegation headed by Sarpanch Jagdev Singh which had met the Delimitation Commission yesterday in Jammu, assured Panthers Party President full support and cooperation of the farmers and the panchayats for the stand taken by Prof Bhim Singh before the Delimitation Commission. Prof Bhim Singh submitted to the Delimitation Commission to provide one more Assembly seat in Kandi area of Kathua District, one more seat in Jammu Rural which has more than 1.5 lakh voters. Besides, the Panthers Party demanded one more seat in Mandi area of Poonch District and an additional seat in Sunderbani sector in Rajouri constituency. Prof Bhim Singh had demanded yesterday in his submission before the Delimitation Commission to increase the Assembly number from 37 (at present) to 45 and allot the same number (45) to Kashmir province.
