GDC Billawar organizes online workshop

JAMMU, July 9: Online workshop on "Psycho-Social Skills of a Good Helper: Tackling the Covid Pandemic" organised by Red Ribbon Club of GDC Billawar in collaboration with "Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education" (MGNCRE) under the aegis of Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India.
The workshop was organised under Swachhta Action Plan to inculcate psycho-social skills in a good helper for tackling Covid Pandemic. Dr. Pinkey was the coordinator for this event.
Ankita Kumari, representative of MGNCRE was the keynote speaker of this workshop. The session was highly interactive where the speaker focused on development of listening skills, the feelings, issues, and needs associated with the person having covid or in his family. She also provided guidance on how to deal with the wellbeing physically and mentally so that even with social distancing none is left alone in society.
The formation of teams pertaining to helping in terms of basic facilities, food supply, medical facilities, hospital information, financial assistance and most important emotional support are the various fields where we can reach out in this pandemic. Students are motivated to help volunteers to integrate psycho-social support skills into their services when they meet infected people during the pandemic.
The workshop was attended by NSS Volunteers, NCC Cadets, faculty members and students of this college. The whole programme was organised under the overall supervision of college Principal Prof. Anita Jamwal. She appreciated the great efforts of Higher Education Department, Ministry of Education, Government of India and all the participants who helped to make this event successful.
