Video contest on teaching of poetry organised by GCOE | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 9: A video contest on teaching of poetry was organised by the Language Club of GCOE, Jammu. The contest was held to enable the B.Ed. and M.Ed. students under training to showcase their practice in recitation and understanding of poetry. Since poetry gives a healthy outlet to pent up emotions, the contestants were supposed to read it in a manner that could foster a sense of appreciation, empathy and aestheticism. The contestants presented the poem in a soulful manner with proper stress, rhythm and intonation during recitation. The trainees of the institution participated in an enthusiastic manner. The principal of the college Dr Kulvinder Kour appreciated the efforts of the students and exhorted the language club to come up with more such initiatives because it improves listening and speaking skills. She also added that poetry is neglected in the current mechanical and technologically driven world which hampers the channelizing of emotions so this event gives an opportunity to the contestants to realize the importance of poetry in emotional development an individual. The contestants were adjudged by senior faculty members viz. Dr.Ritu Mangotra of GCW Parade and Dr. Jyoti Parihar of GCOE Jammu. The best video was prepared by Tashmin Akhtar of B.Ed Sem-IV. She was awarded the first position. The second position was secured by Jyoti Katoch of B.Ed. Sem IV & Sunaina Choudhary. The Third position was shared by Gurvinder Kour and Richa Anand of School of Teacher Education, while Roshni Devi & Anuradha were given certificate of appreciation. The contest was organised by Prof Shalini Rana, HoD, English of GCOE, Jammu. |
