Early Times Report JAMMU, July 9: The Department of Punjabi of Government Degree College Bishnah took an initiative in the month of April during lockdown period to organise a short-term course on "Reading and Writing Punjabi in Gurmukhi script." The rationale for developing this course what is to deliver the theme of International Mother Language Day of 2021 and extending the scope created in the Jammu and Kashmir official languages act 2020. It was also oriented towards implementing the vision enshrined in new education policy 202 as expressed in chapter 22 part III which says "the tone, perception of experience, and familiarity/Apnapan inherent in conversations among speakers of a common language or a reflection and record of a culture. Culture is, thus, encased in our languages. Art, in the form of literature, plays, music, film, etc. cannot be fully appreciated without language. In order to preserve and promote culture one must preserve and promote a culture's language." There were some hundred registration made for this course but only 21 participants completed this course and the result of 06 participants is withheld. The Valedictory of this programme was organised by the participants of this course. This short term course successfully completed on 9 July 2021.
