Govt PG College Rajouri organizes online Mushaira

RAJOURI, July 9: The PG Department of Urdu and Cultural & Literacy Committee of Govt PG College Rajouri organized an online Mushaira (poetry recitation session) in connection with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate 75th years of Indian Independence anniversary here today.
Prof. (Dr.) Shakeel Ahmed Raina, Principal of College presided over the function whereas Khurshid Bismil, noted scholar and poet was Chief Guest on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion, Prof. Shakeel Raina underlined the need of such sessions at regular intervals to keep the culture of Mushaira intact among younger generation and promote Urdu (Hindustani) language at the same time that has been playing great role in unity and integrity of India since freedom struggle days. He appreciated PG Department of Urdu and Cultural & Literary Committee for taking an initiative to organize this kind of pertinent event on virtual mode.
Khurshid Bismil said that a mixture of senior and budding poets may be invited to transform the art and skills of poetry among younger generation of poets. Mushairas have great role in showcasing the contemporary culture to future generations and it must be kept alive, he added. Several leading poets from across Pirpanjal region took part in this Mushaira. The poets who recited their Urdu poetry include Khurshid Bismil, Rashid Qamar, Khurshid Jaanam, Imtiaz Naseem Hashmi, Pervaiz Malik, Dr. Farooq Anwar Mirza, Mahtasham Aahtsham, Dr. Mujahid Mughal, Maharajkar Singh Ishr, Dr. Ashaq Raza, Dr. Abdul Haq Naimi, Dr. Amjad Ali Babar, Nazarat Farid Khan, Raiz Ahmed Mir and Imtiaz Ahmed Ziai.
Earlier, Dr. Abdul Haq Naimi, Head, PG Department of Urdu and Organizing Secretary of even, introduced the audience about the programme whereas Prof. Iqbal Raina, Convener of College Cultural and Literary Committee as well as Convener of programme, welcomed the guests. Dr. Amjad Ali Babar conducted the proceedings of programme.
Prominent among others present on the occasion include Prof. Shabir Hussain (Rtd. Principal), Prof. Musharaf Hussain Shah, Principal GDC Poonch, Dr. Abdul Rashid Manhas, Maulana Shahzad Anwari, Shafiq Arish, Dr. Arif Malik and Arshid Mir.
The committee members who cooperated in the organization of this Mushaira include Dr. Zaheer Ahmed, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Dr. Mehnaz Kouser and Dr. Mohd Hussain. A large number of many faculty members, students and people from different walks of life participated in this online poetry recitation session.
