GDC Chenani releases 2nd issue of NSS e-newsletter, 'Prayatna' | | | Early Times Report CHENANI, July 11: Government Degree College (GDC) Chenani released the second issue of the quarterly National Service Scheme (NSS) e-newsletter, 'Prayatna' (from April to June 2021) with a vision for leadership, extension of services and instilling social awareness amongst students leading to the overall development of the society. Dr Pragya Khanna, Principal of the College stated that the College was sanctioned a unit of NSS in the month of January 2021, since then 'Prayatna' has come a long way in providing services to society without bias. The College aims to inculcate values of social welfare in students and through the community services it looks forward to building their strong character. 'Prayatna' stands for and with people, no matter even if it is a pandemic, the motto of the NSS Unit of the College envisions to help people in every manner possible. Since, the students couldn't reach out to vulnerable people physically during the lockdown, the College aided them to do so through social media platforms by initiating multiple campaigns to educate, normalise and promote health and safety amongst people. The College also started a campaign to support our #Coronawarriors hashtag on Instagram, the students made videos of the volunteers with their participation from their respective homes. Recently, the NSS volunteers also spread awareness about the hazardous impact of single use plastic, they encouraged the students to use sustainable products and the College authorities announced ban on the single use of polythene on the campus. The Principal appreciated the efforts of the NSS Program Officer of the College, Prof. Sunil Kumar and the convener Prof Mir Hafeez in interlacing a fabric of intellect and compassion and leading the students on the path. |
