GDC Batote celebrates World Paper Bag day

JAMMU, July 13: Under the banner of "Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav" Govt. Degree College Batote, J&K celebrated "The World Paper Bag Day".
In order to bring awareness among the students about the menace of polythene and its catastrophic effects on the mother earth, the Department of English in collaboration with the 'Debates and Seminar Committee' of the College organized an Inter College Poster Making and Essay Writing Competition on the theme "Save the Mother Earth - Say no to Polythene, Yes to Paper Bag".
The students from different colleges across the UT have participated in the event with great zeal. The best five participants in each component were awarded certificates of appreciation.
In poster making component Miss Sana Shareef of GDC Batote bagged the first position and the second position was secured by Sehra Bano of GDC Batote. Iqra Tabassum of GDC Doda bagged the third position. The fourth position was secured by Mohd Aqib Wani of GDC Doda and the fifth position was jointly shared by Mubashir Rehman Padder of GDC Banihal and Aqib Riyaz of GDC Batote.
In Essay writing category Mehr- ul- Nisa of GDC Batote bagged the first position. Iqra Tabassum of GDC Doda bagged the second position and the third position was secured by Suneel Singh of GDC Batote. The fourth position was bagged by Sanjna Sharma of GDC Batote and the fifth position was secured by Zerina Bano of GDC Batote.
The programme was conducted under the patronage of the Principal of the College, Prof. Rajesh Kumar Gupta and was hosted by Prof. Ashaq Hussain, Head Dept. of English with active support of Dr. Om Raj Katoch, Head Dept. of Economics.
