Orientation workshop ‘Transforming Foundational Literacy’: Feedback review held on Day 10

JAMMU, July 14: A progress review cum feedback meeting was organised by the Directorate of School Education Jammu, on the day 10 of ongoing orientation and training program "Transforming Foundational Literacy”, here at the Directorate Headquarters Jammu.
Around 50 Teachers were handed over alphaTUB English language learning kits and they were guided about the mobile application to be used alongside the kit to improve English language learning and track the learning level outcomes (LLO) in real time as per pre-school requirements.
Directorate of School Education Jammu in collaboration with alphaTUB Innovations Pvt. Ltd, which specialises in Early Childhood Learning and Training has organised a 2-week online orientation on “Transforming Foundational Literacy” for Pre-Primary teachers.
The training is being imparted to the teachers in association with Dev Samaj College Of Education, Chandigarh, GRIID (Govt Rehabilitation Institute for Intellectual Disabilities), Chandigarh and Lynda A. Cohen Centre for Study of Child Development, USA.
The Director School Education Jammu, Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma, who presided over the function, said that the Directorate will continue to hold such training programmes which benefit teachers and students. Addressing the teachers present on the occasion, he said that parents will send their kids to government pre primary schools only when credibility of schools is built and that will come with hard work only. And education in such schools will be based on the new education policy guidelines.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Directorate of School Education Jammu has established a good number of pre-primary sections in government schools of Jammu division 50 of these pre-primary schools have been chosen for free distribution of the innovative alphabet kits and uniquely designed alphabet pegboard that allows for introducing newer words and dynamic content, thus matching the growing vocabulary of any learner.
Deputy Director Planning, Mamta Sharma, thanking the AlphaTUB team on the, said that every possible effort will be made to make government prep primary schools a preferred choice for the parents inw future. said, “The use of alphaTUB which is a developmentally appropriate learning tool will help educators to create a supporting environment for young child’s learning”.
Anil Hastir, Director - Sales and Academic Outreach at alphaTUB said, that ” We are honoured to partner in this initiative with DSEJ, on Foundational Literacy Training which allows us to share the best learning practices and inspires educators to teach young children by using developmentally appropriate technology ”.
Jaswinder Kour, Coordinator DRC said, ”This training course examines the best practices in child learning and parental engagement and is a scalable intervention strategy for early childhood literacy”.
On the directions of Director School Education Jammu, the training programme is being supervised by Mamta Sharma, Deputy Director Planning, Directorate of School Educatwion Jammu whereas Jaswinder Kour, Coordinator DRC and her team is managing and conducting the training programme.
