Ajit Colony Extension residents demand deep drains
7/14/2021 10:57:24 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 14: The residents of Ajit Colony Extension have demanded deep drains in their colony along with blacktopping of left out lanes.
According to press release, a meeting of Ajit Colony Extn .Welfare Committee was held under the chairmanship of Bhushan Lal Koul, President ACEx-WC.
The members discussed burning problems of the locality mainly laying of drainage system and black topping of the left over streets. The members expressed anguish over continuous neglect of their genuine demand of laying of a drainage system in the locality as none was ever laid due to lop-sided development of the area of the Jammu West.
Sat Pal Karloopia, Corporator Ward 32 was also invited for the meeting who was briefed by the members that erstwhile MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma had also endorsed this demand and directed the Sewerage and Drainage Division West to frame a DPR to give relief to the residents of the area but funds were never alloted for the project. This old DPR needs to be revised, removing the shortcomings keeping in view the site conditions.
JMC Mayor has also taken up this issue with SE, UEED and Hon'ble Corporator has assured the members to pursue the matter with the concerned department and get new DPR prepared to provide deep drainage system to the area which alone can solve the problem.
The Corporator was also requested to get the Malba dumped on the metalled road to raise road level for making ramp obstructing flow of rain water of the street removed as it leads to stagnation of water in front of houses and is violation of the rules. Repeated representations and online grievance registration have not solved the issue despite visit by JMC officials for the reasons best known to them.
Prominent among those who attended the meeting included Badri Nath Jotshi, Pardeep Sharma, Rattan Lal Dhar, Tej Krishan Koul and Arun Jandial, Secretary.
