Congress protests against fuel hike

Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 14: Gurmeet Singh President Beopar Mandal & District General Secretary Congress Jammu East (City) along with activists staged a massive protest against the BJP led Union govt for incessant hike in prices of petrol, diesel, LPG and essential commodities. "The rate of LPG has been hiked by 25 rupees and has been billed for Rs 886 per cylinder which is very high rate and unable to bear by the general public which clearly shows the loot made by the BJP government", he said.
Speaking at the protest, Gurmeet Singh highlighted the local issues that have been troubling the people of Jammu city especially issue of erratic power and water supply in cities across J&K. Jammu City for the last few months is facing the worst ever unscheduled power cuts despite rising mercury levels. "Households in various areas of Jammu city are suffering from acute shortage of drinking water in the scorching heat of the summers. Their problem is further aggravated by the irregular and unscheduled power cuts that have become a common occurrence. Power outages are crippling the households who are ultimately forced to bear the increasing temperatures everyday without any relief. Businesses are also suffering huge losses as products worth thousands and lakhs go to waste as electricity- run equipments stop working. People are completely disappointment by the UT Government. While countless problems have befallen the common man, be it local issues of Jammu, or other burning matters that have gripped the entire country, the BJP Government is a mute spectator", he said. He emphasized that complete statehood be immediately restored in J&K.
