JMC should find robust solution to end water logging: Kavinder | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 14: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader & former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta has expressed serious concern over loss and damage to the properties of the people in Jammu's civil lines area due to incessant rains. In a statement issued here today, former Deputy Chief Minister urged the authorities of the Jammu Municipal Corporation to take serious note of this significant problem and provide one time permanent solution so that such recurring damage and loss does not happen during rainy season in future. The senior BJP leader said that it is really an irony that the water logging continues to be a serious problem even in the Civil Lines areas despite the latest technologies available in the present era. This was witnessed in areas around Bikram Chowk where rain water inundated the ground floors of residential houses causing extensive damage to the properties of the people. The people in other areas like Gangyal and adjacent localities also faced a similar situation during the recent rains mainly due to overflowing of blocked Nallahs. He appealed to the people to desist from encroaching drains and Nallahs and not indulge in throwing garbage into these Nallahs as these are meant for providing smooth outlet to the rain water during rainy season. Meanwhile, the former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta appealed to the Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation, Chander Mohan Gupta to take serious note of people's suffering and initiate adequate measures to avert water logging in civil line areas besides. He also urged the Mayor to bring into motion men and machinery of the Corporation into action and remove all the illegal constructions and encroachments over the drains that prove to be a hurdle in the free-flow of rainwater.
