CHENANI, July 14: The Science Club of Govt. Degree College, Chenani under the banner of the NSS unit 'PRAYATNA' and Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav Cell, organized a webinar on "Applications of Artificial Intelligence".
The objective behind the organization of the event was to make the students aware about the wide applications of AI and the computational tools that are able to substitute for human intelligence in the performance of certain tasks. The students of the College participated enthusiastically in the program and discussed various applications by way of PowerPoint presentations.
The students threw light on this branch of computer science concerned with making computers that behave like humans or perform activities that humans consider intelligent like creativity, reasoning. They described how AI has become one of the top strategic priorities and a key driving force of economic growth. Healthcare is a sector in which AI is like a game changing technology which allows to foster rate data analysis and diagnosis. In financial industry, AI is used to detect and flag malicious activities in banking and finance.
Dr. Pragya Khanna, Principal of the College appreciated the efforts of the students and stated that Artificial intelligence (AI) is a wide-ranging tool that enables people to rethink how we integrate information, analyze data, and use the resulting insights to improve decision making and already it is transforming every walk of life.
Shardha Verma, Guest Faculty, Department of Computer Science concluded the program highlighting some of the typical problems to which AI methods are applied like Optical Character Recognition, Speech Recognition, Face Recognition, Handwriting Recognition, Image Processing, Virtual Reality, Robotics, Data mining etc.
