JMC Mayor extends gratitude to LG for implementation of 74th constitutional amendment

Jammu, July 14: Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Chander Mohan Gupta has extended gratitude to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Kumar Sinha for the implementation of 74th constitutional amendment.
Addressing media persons, Chander Mohan Gupta, alongwith Advocate Purnima Sharma Deputy Mayor, Yash Paul Sharma Chairman Swacch Bharat Committee, Kuldeep Singh Chib Chairman Social Justice Committee informed the media regarding their meeting held on 13/07/2021 with Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, UT of J&K at Raj Bhavan, Jammu wherein various issues of public importance were raised.
He told that he and his team extended much gratitude to LG Lieutenant Governor about implementation of much awaited 74th Amendment wherein functions/ functionaries of different departments such as Social Welfare, Primary Education, PWD (city division), Primary Health Centers, Urban Forestry, and Floriculture etc have been transferred to Jammu Municipal Corporation as well as necessary steps taken regarding laying down of much needed foundation stone of integrated Solid Waste Management project at Kot Bhalwal, Jammu which will help in automated waste segregation, control of air and soil pollution, and implementation of SWM rules, plastic management rules and compliances of NGT guidelines.
Major other issues put forth before the Lieutenant Governor includes releasing of extra and special funds in favour of JMC on priority basis in order to save precious life of human beings as well as their property which get damaged in every rainy season, in terms of overflowing/ blockage of nallahas/ deep drains due to improper drainage system within the jurisdiction of JMC.
“Also request was made for Construction/development of a well furnished water park/amusement park in Jammu city on the pattern of wonderland Ludhiana to attract more tourists”, they said.
Other issue raised about transfer of Transport yard Narwal of JDA to JMC as thousand of shops of different categories situated at Transport yard Narwal Jammu is under the direct control of JDA at present who is not in a position to provide basic amenities to the shopkeepers of the locality as well as commuters who visits in large numbers on routine basis and they are approaching to the JMC for better maintenance of the yard & it will also help in increasing the revenue of the department.
Other issue raised about the re-organization of Jammu Municipal Corporation which has not been done since long.
Another request was made before his Excellency about transfer JUDA, JK Housing Board to JMC in order to implement the centrally sponsored schemes i.e. Housing for All, Skill Development etc in a better and effective manner and the building permission norms be simplified for the eligible beneficiaries who have applied for obtaining necessary loan under Housing for ALL scheme having their lane less than the prescribed parameters, providing proper security/PSO’s to all the councillors of JMC as number of incidents of attacking on them by antisocial elements have been happened during last 3 years while conducting tour of their respective ward in connection with redressing the issues of public importance.
