Floral tributes paid to "Krishna Ghati Poonch" hero | | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, July 16: A function was held under the banner of "Krishan Singh Vr.C Memorial Welfare Committee-Urlian" (KSMWC) near Town Hall Udhampur at 'Shradhanjali Sthal' to pay homage to the war hero of 'Krishna Ghati' in 1948, Subedar Krishan Singh Jamwal, Vr. C awardees. This day is remembered every year by the family and members of the committee under the management of President of the welfare committee Mahadeep Singh Jamwal retired Superintendent of police, largely joined by citizens of Udhampur. Martyr Sub Krishan Singh laid his life on 15/16th of July 1948 at Krishna Ghati (known by the name of the martyr) Poonch, while fighting with enemies and was decorated with second highest gallantry award of war time 'Veer Chakra' posthumously by the Government of India. Today while talking to the media on the occasion Jamwal reiterated that the government is only vociferous on the martyrs and discriminates on rank basis. The 'Shadat' of Krishan Singh is a telling story. The file of Martyr Krishan Singh Vr.C to raise his statues and to name one of the conspicuous Chowk of Udhampur on his name has been licking dust since 2015 and the grievance cell of the Lt Governor is acting like a post office. Jamwal advised the government to quit talking and begin doing for martyrs. He requested the administration, political formation, government of India & UT and Northern Command in Udhampur to take care of families of martyrs as they are commanding today only because of martyrdom of the past soldiers. Whenever any function is held to remember the martyrs the families of the martyrs should be invited to the function. |
