Shrine Board initiates 'Green Trikuta Hills' during monsoon

KATRA, July 16: To conserve the environment and the greenery of Trikuta Hills, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), under its monsoon programme, launched a plantation drive at Tarakote Marg and the spaces along the tracks leading to the Shrine on Friday.
Towards achieving this objective, Ramesh Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, launched the monsoon plantation drive by planting saplings of Peepal, Chinar, Arjuna and Tecoma. CEO Shrine Board also inspected last year's plantation works.
The Shrine Board will plant 1.33 lakh quality seedlings of different species under its Annual Greening Plan during the current financial year thereby bringing another 73 hectares area under green cover.
After launching the plantation drive by the CEO of the Shrine Board, a massive plantation of about 600 plants was undertaken of species Peepal, Bargad, Bauhinia, Amrud, Amla, Jamun, Chinar, Tecoma, Jacaranda, Rudraksh, Bhera, Arjuna, Amaltas, Hibiscus, Bougainvillea and other soil binder species like Agave Americana etc.
Among those who participated in the plantation drive included Vivek Verma, Additional CEO of the Shrine Board; Vinay Khajuria, ACF; and other concerned officers of the Board.
