REASI, July 23: Social Welfare Department Reasi in collaboration with Artificial Limbs Corporation of India (ALIMCO), a public sector enterprise functioning under the control of Ministry of Social Justice Government of India, today organised a ‘Samajik Adhikarita Shivir’ for providing aids and assistive devices to Divyangjan (differently-abled) under Assistance to Disabled Persons (ADIP) scheme. The distribution camp was organized under the overall supervision of Deputy Commissioner, Charandeep Singh here at Sports stadium.
The main objective of the government’s ADIP Scheme, in operation since 1981, is to assist people in procuring assistive aid and appliances that can help in their socio-economic development.
A total 380 aids and appliances costing Rs 13 Lakh were distributed by DC and Director Social Welfare, Jammu, Smitha Sethi among 192 beneficiaries which included Tricycles for Adults, Tricycles for Children, Wheelchairs Adult and Small, CP Chair, Hearing Aid, MSIED kit, Smart Cane, Smart Phone, Daisy Players, Braille Kit, Crutches, Walking Sticks, Rolator Callipers, Artificial Limbs. District Social Welfare Officer Gulshan Kumar, Deputy Director SWD Shivwali were also present.
