BSP activists stage protest demonstration against Police
7/23/2021 11:12:30 PM
Early Times Report
KATHUA, July 23: Alleging district police of adopting dilly delaying attitude in a suicidal case, the relatives and other locals under the leadership of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) State President Som Raj Majotra carried out protest demonstration here at Kathua, on Friday.
Later, the protesters met with DDC Kathua Rahul Yadav and handed over memorandum appealing Lieutenant Governor to interfere in the matter so that the justice could be met.
While addressing media Som Raj Majotra said that ten days ago Ashwani Kumar alias Sonu Kumar R/o Ward number 1 committed suicide. The suicidal reason was very much clear from the video which he self-recorded on his mobile before committing suicide. In recording, Sonu Kumar naming some prominent and influential citizens of the city has alleged that he is going to commit suicide as these people had not only cheated him in paying his dues for the land which he had sold to them but are also harassing him using their influence.
"It is strange that in video Sonu Kumar had named the responsible persons clearly but, the police influenced by the pressure of those people had not taken any action against the culprits," Majotra miffed.
Majotra further said that Sonu Kumar belongs to poor family and had left behind his two minor kids, which are below the age of three years. We want to know from police and district administration that who would look after them?
Following the assurance of DDC Kathua regarding viable action in the matter, the protesters stepped back protest with a warning of intensifying the struggle, if demand do not meets in stipulated time.
