Apni Trade Union holds protest against JMC

JAMMU, July 23: The members of Apni Trade Union today organised a protest demonstration against the Jammu Municipal Corporation for their failure to take up developmental works in ward number 23 in Satwari.
The protest was led by Apni Trade Union, District President, Anirudh Vasisht against the dilapidated conditions of lanes and drains of the area. In a statement issued today, Anirudh Visisht said that they have staged a symbolic protest against Jammu Municipal Corporation over the neglect of this ward. and “Heavy rains and floods had recently caused great inconvenience to the residents and businessmen in the area due to the failure of JMC,” he said. He further said that since the area falls under the jurisdiction of Jammu Municipal Corporation, it is their bounden duty to construct lanes and drains in the area and provide solace to the people who have been facing great inconvenience on this front for a long time.
He appealed to the concerned authorities to come forward and mitigate the sufferings of the residents forthwith. He also appealed to the District Administration to extend the closing time of shopkeepers and other businessmen so that they are able to earn their livelihood smoothly as due to prolonged lockdowns their economic conditions are in shambles.
