Kanhaiya Lal features in Natrang's National Theatre Talk Show | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 23: Natrang’s National Theatre Talk Show, ‘Young Voices of Theatre’, on the Facebook page of Natrang featured National School of Drama alumni, theatre actor, director and designer Kanhaiya Lal Kaithwas in the 46th episode where he shared his inspirational thoughts with the global audience. Today’s guest Kanhaiya Lal Kaithwas started his career in theatre 30 years back in Ujjain with Baal Manch. He has to his credit 100 plays and directed more than 50 plays. He has participated in Asia Art Mahotsav with the play ‘Navlakha’ directed by Anuradha Kapoor in Japan. He has also performed in few films like; ‘Swaraj’, ‘Kolanchal’, ‘Wounded’, ‘Dharti Ab Bhi Ghoom Rahi Hai’ and TV serials like; ‘Kisse Ek Hazar’, ‘Premchand Ki Kahanian’ and ‘Sarita’ etc as Art Director and Actor. Ministry of Culture’s Junior Fellowship holder, Kanhaiya has worked in the Central University, Hyderabad for four months, and also worked in NSD Repertory Company for two years. In an interesting conversation with Natrang’s senior artist Neeraj Kant, Kanhiya narrated his eventful journey of theatre which started in his childhood. He nostalgically recalled his enlightening learnings from the great theatre master Padmashri Bansi Kaul whose teachings are intrinsic in Kanhiya’s personality. He explained about the clown methodology in which an actor is not dependent on just facial expressions, his/her whole body expresses the content. Other than doing brilliant acting, multifaceted and ardent theatre practitioner Kanhaiya has the reputation to create wonders in scenic/art design with minimum resources, he also shared some of the experiences of such ventures. Kanhiya, who has done substantial theatre with children, finds them more appropriate for learning as they come with no pre-conditions which facilitate their unfathomable growth. He also recalled his wonderful experiences of working with the Natrang team and appreciates them for their diligent and persistent quality work. To the young generation, he advises to have patience and commitment if they want to pursue a career in theatre and if they are able to do so, success will definitely greet them at the right time. Otherwise even brilliant talent proves to be futile if one is not committed, dedicated or is impatient. |
