JAMMU, July 27: Division of Food Science and Technology of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J), organized one day training programme on “Value addition of Mango” under RKVY project entitled, “Value addition of sub-tropical fruits for women empowerment in Jammu district” at village Old Satwari, Mandal Zone. The programme was aimed for profitable utilization of Mango fruit by making Mango Leather and squash on scientific lines to fetch better market price for these value added products. In this training, about 50 rural farm women and unemployed youth from village Old Satwari participated. Sagir Ahmed I/c AEO Mandal Zone instigate the training programme and extended warm welcome to Dr. Ashwani Jojra SDAO, Marh, Dr Anju Bhat, Head (FST), Dr Mahital Jamwal DDR, Dr. Neeraj Gupta, PI, RKVY, SKUAST-Jammu, Officers of the line departments, Sarpanch participating rural women and unemployed youth of the village Old Satwari. Dr Neeraj Gupta, Principal Investigator, RKVY Project started the training programme and gave detailed demonstration for making Leather and squash from mango fruit. The participants were apprised with the value addition of Mango fruit and its profitable economics. Dr. Anju Bhat, Professor & Head, Division of FST detailed the farmers about the nutritional importance of mango fruit and benefits of adding this fruit in the daily diet. Dr Ashwani Jojra SDAO, Marh praised the university’s scientists for organizing such an informative training programme for rural people. At the end of the programme, Dr. Neeraj Gupta, Principal Investigator, RKVY Project, Division of FST, SKUAST Jammu expressed the vote of thanks to all the participants and the persons involved in the said training programme. |
