RAMBAN, July 27: As part of the ongoing Van Mahotsav celebration, a plantation drive was today organized by the Social Forestry Division, Ramban, here at village Neera. The plantation drive was launched by DDC Councilor, Ramban-B, Renuka Katoch by planting sapplings. DFO Social Forestry, Mahesh Thakur, Naib Sarpanch Neera Panchayat, Noor Illahi, officials of Social Forestry Division, Ramban and other locals also participated in the plantation drive. During the plantation drive, sapplings of different species were planted with the aim to increase the greenery and maintain ecological balance and scenic beauty of the area. Van Mahotsav events are being organized by Department of Social Forestry across the length and breadth of UT of Jammu and Kashmir under over all supervision of PCCF/Director Department of Social Forestry J & K. Roshan Jaggi. While speaking on the occasion, DDC Councilor highlighted the importance of plantation in maintaining ecological balance and combating pollution. It will also help in soil and water conservationist, thereby, minimizing the incidents of landslides and other related environmental hazards, she added. |
