DDC Rajouri discusses modalities for skill development of unemployed youth at DSC meeting | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
RAJOURI, July 27: The modalities for skill development of the unemployed youth were today discussed by District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan, here at a meeting of the District Skill Committee (DSC), held here in the Conference Hall of the PWD Dak Bunglow. Among the others, the meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Mohammad Khurshid; Principal ITI Rajouri, AR Sheikh; DSWO, Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt; Superintendent ITI Nowshera and Kalakote, Nayaz Ahmed; Superintendent ITI Sunderbani, Ruchi Sharma; President Jamola Nehru Youth club, Akis Nasir; besides the other concerned members of the District Skill Committee attended the meeting. The meeting deliberated on various aspects of district-specific skill requirements, the viability of available schemes besides the scope of skill development for various departments. The District Development Commissioner said that skill development is the need of the hour to create an empowered workforce. He asked the concerned members to identify the potential areas in which training or skill can be imparted to the unemployed youth. He also urged upon all the concerned officers to assess demands and requirements of specific skills in the local market and rationalize available resources accordingly. Regarding the disbursement of scholarships to the trainees, the District Development Commissioner asked the concerned to ensure that all the eligible trainees of the district are provided scholarships. Reviewing the implementation of Umeed scheme, the concerned officer from NRLM informed that the scheme is currently being implemented in five blocks of the district including Darhal, Koteranka, Manjakote, Nowshera and Kalakote and two thousand self-help groups have been constituted to date. The DDC asked for registration of the maximum number of women so that they can get the benefits under the scheme. Principal ITI Rajouri and Superintendent ITI Nowshera were directed to identify two suitable places for the opening of training centres where the youth would be provided training in different trades. |
