Rain eludes Kashmir hot & humid weather continues

Srinagar, July 27: As the rain eludes the Kashmir valley, including Srinagar, people continued to suffer due to hot and humid weather.
A Met department spokesman on Tuesday evening again issued a forecast for widespread light to moderate rain and thundershowers in the Kashmir valley during the next 24 hours. Widespread rain and thundershowers will continue during the subsequent two days, he said.
Similar predictions were made by the Met department during the past 24 hours in the valley, where weather remained dry resulting in further surge in the mercury.
The maximum temperature today was 4 degree to 5 degree above normal in the valley, where the night temperature was also 4.6 degree to 6 degree above normal.
Srinagar, one of the two capital cities of Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded 34.6 degree maximum temperature which was 5.1 notches above normal while humidity was 79 this morning at 0830 hrs and 46 at1730 hrs. The minimum temperature was 24.6 degree, 5.9 notches above normal.
Met spokesman said there could be light rain or thundershowers and the maximum and minimum temperature will be around 28 degree and 22 degree respectively in Srinagar during the next 24 hours.
The world famous ski resort of Gulmarg recorded 25 degree maximum temperature which was 4.2 degree above normal while the minimum temperature was 17 degree, 4.6 notches above normal.
