Searches continues in Kulgam, police evacuates 430 civilians | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 27: Security forces continued search operation in south Kashmir Kulgam’s tourist resort of Ahrabal, where police rescued 430 local tourists who got stranded after the encounter broke out early Monday morning. One militant was killed in the encounter so far, official sources said. They said Army, CRPF and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint search operation at Ahrabal in Kulgam early yesterday. A Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militant was killed in the initial exchange of fire. However, additional security forces were rushed and massive searches were conducted in the densely forest area, they said adding the operation continued for the second day today. No fresh contact was established today, they added. Meanwhiile, a police spokesman said that a message was received that 340 tourists are stranded at tourist destination Aharbal. He said Station House Officers (SHOs) of Police Station (PS) Manzgam and Damhal Hanjipora arranged 40 vehicles and evacuated civilians and were taken to their destinations safely. |
