Tractor-trolley operators stage protest against DMO and mining mafia | | | Early Times Report KATHUA, July 28: Fed up of dictatorship attitude of Mining Department and Mining Contractors, the members of Tractor Trolley union staged protest demonstration in the premises of secretariat, on Wednesday. The protesters Shakti Sharma, Neeraj Sharma, Sandeep Kumar, Deepak Sharma and alleged that they all are educated unemployed youths which are earning their bread-butter by operating tractor-trolleys. They said that at one hand Mining Department and Mining contractors are harassing in various ways on the other hand neither police administration nor the district administration is giving heed to their troubles. The protesters said that they are supposed to pay royalty to crusher owners from where they purchase material and not to contractors. But, the goons of mining contractors forcibly collect royalty from them, that too at the rate of Rs 500 per MT. They collect royalty of 6-8 MT and in return gives slip of 2 MT. "Where the rest of revenue goes, of course not to government," they irked, adding that booty is shared by DMO and others. The protesters also added that the daring attitude of the mining contractors could be adjudged that on July 18, 2021 two FIR's were lodged at Rajbagh Police Station against mining contractors who holding deadly weapons entered in the office of complainant namely Devi Dyal and Shashi (owners of stone crusher) and demanded money from them. On refusal they assaulted the Stone Crusher owners. The protesters said that they are going to meet DDC Kathua Rahul Yadav and will appeal him to intervene in the matter so that the tractor trolley owners could free themselves from the clutches of DMO Kathua and mining mafia. |
