GDC Vijaypur observes nature conservation day

VIJAYPUR, July 28: Government Degree College Vijaypur today observed World Nature Conservation Day 2021 to create awareness about protecting and conserving natural resources. There are so many threats to nature like deforestation, illegal wildlife trade, pollution, plastics, chemicals, and a lot more. But nowadays many countries have realized the importance of conserving nature as a healthy environment needs to be created to safeguard the present and future generations.
Prof. Poonam Kundan (Convener, Ecoclub) coordinated the event with the theme "Nature Photography" where students had to send a picture along with suitable caption and location.
Students from various Colleges and Universities participated in the photography contest. First position was shared by Anuj Kumar of GDC Udhampur and Vishal Gupta of Lyallpur Khalsa College of Engineering, Jalandhar. Second position was shared by Ashwani Singh, Sunil Sharma and Anuj Sharma of GDC Udhampur while third position was shared by Rishabh Chalotra of M.M College of Pharmacy, Ambala ; Manreen Kour of GDC Vijaypur and Sumit Singh of GDC Udhampur. Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.) Sangeeta Sudan, congratulated all the participants and staff of the college for such an innovative activity and said that we all have the responsibility to make a conscious effort to conserve nature as the conservation of resources has an important role to play in protecting and preserving our mother earth. The contest was adjudged by Prof. Kuldeep Singh, Dr. Shittal Sharma and Prof. Poonam Kundan. E- Certificates were awarded to all the participants.
