ADGP, Div Com review Independence Day arrangements in Jammu division

JAMMU, July 28: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer along with Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh on Wednesday reviewed the arrangements put in place by district administrations for smooth conduct of Independence Day- 2021 celebrations in the Jammu division, here at a video conference meeting with all Deputy Commissioners.
The Video conferencing was also attended by all the Senior Superintendents of Police and other concerned district officers.
The Deputy Commissioners apprised the Divisional Commissioner that the preparedness for celebration of Independence Day were being reviewed on regular intervals and the concerned departments have been instructed to put in place all necessary arrangements well in advance.
The Divisional Commissioner asked the Deputy Commissioners to ensure strict adherence of covid related SOPs during the celebrations. He also reviewed the arrangements for felicitation of Covid warriors and was informed that selection committees have been constituted for the purpose.
Sensitizing the officers about their role and responsibilities, the Div Com instructed to ensure that all arrangements are made in advance for smooth conduct of the celebrations in all districts.
The district administrations were asked to give wide publicity to the theme of Aatmanirbar Bharat and other schemes by using social media platforms as part of the Independence Day celebrations. The Div Com also stressed on holding plantation drives in the districts to mark the celebrations. The ADGP reviewed security arrangements in the districts and took feedback from the concerned SSPs. The SSPs informed about the deployment of personnel and surveillance put in place to check suspicious movement.
The SSPs were directed to take care of security of all venues including at sub Division and block level where the national flag will be hoisted. He asked the officers to step up vigil and security in the Districts and put the nakas on border roads, NH-44 and other interior highways on alert round the clock.
Meanwhile, the Div Com and ADGP reviewed the status of disaster management and preparedness plan, including flood control measures and response mechanism put in place to tackle any exigency in the prevailing rainy season. The Div Com also directed the DCs to identify locations to provide safe shelters to people during any disaster and ensure the availability of water, power, ration etc. He asked the DCs to focus on prior strategy, make advance preparations in the identified flood prone areas for the safety of people. He also instructed the DCs to send SDRF teams in advance to flood prone areas with PA systems for early warnings and announcements.
